3 INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 INTERPOL Response Database on International Intellectual Property (DIIP) Crime to deliver benefits for all IP crime affected industries Integrated regional and global IP crime intelligence function providing referral service for stakeholders Information handling protocols to protect confidential and proprietary information while addressing industry concerns Developed using INTERPOLs unique experience of delivering successful global police databases

5 INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 Control and Maintenance Private sector organizations provide information, but do not have access to it - confidential and proprietary Data hand delivered to INTERPOL IP Crime Unit (IPCU) Data received from private sector organizations will be quality assured before input into DIIP IPCU responsible for processing and storing data Access restricted to IPCU and nominated INTERPOL technical staff

6 INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 Disclosure of Information IPCU will not disclose information Referrals made individually to affected information owners and permission sought to inform other parties Bi-lateral disclosure at discretion of parties concerned Links only referred to law enforcement agencies with express permission of information owner IPCU to hold operational working groups to identify collective response to transnational criminal conspiracies

7 INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 Strategic Reports Regional and Global Strategic Reports produced from criminal analysis Reports will not contain nominal or proprietary information Illustrate the nature and extent of transnational organized IP crime Provide policy makers with reliable overview of regional and global counterfeiting and piracy

8 INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 Performance Measurement Number of submissions received from participating private sector organizations Number and nature of possible links arising from comparison between DIIP data and ICIS Number and nature of confirmed links arising from criminal analysis Number of intelligence packages produced Number of referrals made to participating private sector organizations and law enforcement agencies
