Birth: March 25 1347, Siena Italy Death: April 29 1380, Rome Italy Cause of death: Stroke (age 33) Feast day: April 29 Real Name: Catherine Benincasa Family: It was a very large family and she was 23rd of 25 children Personal History

 She was a cheerful, bright, and intensely religious child.  When Catherine was only 6 she had visions of guardian angles as clearly as people and continued seeing guardian angles when she was 16 and throughout her life.  At 13 she joined the Dominican Sisters in Siena.  In one of her visions she married Jesus and after that she swore not to marry because she married Christ and she believed in him.  Taught herself to read and write, she wrote letters to important people such as; Kings, Princes and Popes  She spent most of her time with helping the poor, ill and working with charities. Early Life

St. Catherine was canonized by Pope Pius II in 1461 and became a saint because she was inspired by the Holy Spirit and had visions of Christ and St. Dominic also devoted most of her time to helping the poor and ill.St. Catherine’s mind was to set to bring the pope back to Rome because he wasn’t safe and she did. Canonized

 She Brought The Pope Back to Rome  She taught herself to read and write  Helped poor and ill  Catherine wrote of her religious experiences in a series of "dialogues" with God, which became an Italian classic and is still read today with respect.  She lived through numerous civil wars Accomplishments

 St. Catherine chose this path because she accomplished many things other women weren’t able to accomplish. Also she set her mind to do something and she did it even if it there was a bumpy road ahead, she never gave up.  She also chose this path because as a child the Holy Spirit inspired her by letting her see visions of Christ and throughout her life and she followed in the footsteps, the visions made her do things like bring the pope back to Rome and make peace in Florence. Why The Saint Chose this path?

I chose St. Catherine because she never gave up in anything even if the worst thing would happen, she also had a close connection with God and she was unique because she did what most women of her class and time would not be able to accomplish. Why I choose this Saint?
