Grid Portals Rajesh Chhabra QPSF Grid Manager Project Leader- User Interface and Visualization Infrastructure (UIVI) Supported by Queensland Parallel Super Computing Foundation (QPSF)
Background 100s of portals around in HPC/Grid domain. Multiple definitions of portals. Web Portal Grid Portal Access Grid Portal Issues Couldnt reuse much- quite tightly coupled Reinvention, refunding, resolving same problems
Portlets JSR168 standard for portlet http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=168 http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=168 Supported by Sun, IBM, Oracle, HP, Apache, Documentum, Vignette (Content Management Commercial softwares) etc GridSphere – framework to built portals supporting the JSR 168 standard. Project funded by GridLab (European funded). IBMs Websphere based. NMI Portals group – OGCE http://www.collab- ogce.org/nmi/index.jsp they primarily focus on making portlets and support various JSR168 based portal containers. http://www.collab- ogce.org/nmi/index.jsp
Common Portlets Authentication portlet (globus certs) File upload Job submission Resource viewer Job history & output
Known interesting portlets Condor Portlet (developed) Cactus Portlet (developed) GridBus portlet (beta developed) Nimrod Portlet (in development) SRB Portlet (in development) Ganglia Portlet (in development) etc
Key benefits Easy to use Interoperability Big developers base Demo of Grid Portal at APAC
Ad time Grid Portals Workshop (by GridSphere developers) in Australia –APAC05. 26 th Sep – Monday prior to the main event. Jason Novotny, Michael Russel and Oliver Wehrens (Core Developers of GridSphere) all confirmed coming to deliver this workshop.
