The Appalachian Mountains run through the Southeast The Great Smokey Mountains are in Tennessee and North Carolina The Coastal Plain, low flat lands that hold beaches, swamps, and bays, run along the east and south coast of the Southeast. Mississippi Rivers is the longest river in America. It starts in Minnesota and empties into the Gulf of Mexico south of New Orleans, LA. The climate is hot and humid, or wet, in the summer; and in the winter it is cool with rain or sometimes snow.

9 The Southeast Economy Tourism bring millions of people to the restaurants, beaches, hotels, and theme parks of the Southeast. Many people come to this area to work a the restaurants, beaches, hotels, and theme parks! Many people like to visit Nashville, and Memphis Tennessee for the country music. The Mississippi River barges take products and goods up and down the river to many cities in the country. Oranges, rice, peaches, and peanuts are just a few of the crops grown in the Southeast.

The best soil for growing crops is found in the Northeast. Forests and trees provide wood for paper, pencils, and other products. The Northeast provides rocks and minerals to people around the world. Major cities grew up along the Atlantic coast and the many waterways in the Northeast.
