1 Briefing Session on the Partnership Scheme with Subject-related Organisations for the Implementation of NSS 15 October 2008 Dr. S.K. KWAN Principal Education Officer (NSS)

2 Partnership Scheme – why? To provide financial support to KLA/subject-related organisations on projects that support the implementation of NSS in 2009

3 Objectives Encourage bottom up reform initiatives and partnership Promote concerted efforts to support curriculum reform Enhance capacity building among teachers

4 Who can apply? All Subject-related Organisations under the Hong Kong Teacher Centre are eligible for the financial support

5 How to apply? Submit applications by hand or by post to CDI Application should be sent on or before 5 Dec 08 for the 3rd batch of the Scheme

6 Advice Clear objectives No recurrent implications Manageable With clear deliverables that support teachers

7 Duration of project Duration of project and/or activities - not more than 2 years

8 Vetting criteria Relevancy to NSS Objectives and quality of project design: - cost-effectiveness - feasibility - innovativeness - sustainability - number and scope of the beneficiaries

9 Vetting criteria (continued) Coherency and synergy Balance in support to teachers of different KLAs / subjects Availability of funds

10 Successful Applications Successful applicants will need to sign an agreement with the HKSAR government

11 Publicity and Publications A successful applicant should acknowledge EDB in any publications and publicity of activities. EDB reserves the right to cancel or restrict any promotional material considered inappropriate

12 Intellectual Property Rights and Copyrights The ownership of all intellectual property rights belong to the government The KLA/subject-related organisations can use the materials produced in the project for educational purposes that are non-profit making and as agreed by EDB The KLA/subject-related organisations shall be responsible for clearing all intellectual property rights of all materials used in the project / activities

13 Monitoring CDI will be responsible for vetting and monitoring of the project

14 Reporting A completion of the interim report/key mile stone to EDB together with a statement of income and expenditure valid up to the date of submission of the progress report/completion of the key mile stone An end-of-project report to EDB within two months after the completion of all activities together with the financial statement or financial report
