Educational Quality of Meetings Suggestions for Improvements: Increase the amount of funds devoted to speakers Have topics of interest to multiple specialties at each meeting or have the meeting focused towards one specialty so that those who attend get a good overview of current topics in that specialty Have a theme for the meeting and have speakers build upon each other Solicit topics more widely/speakers from outside NC Have evaluations at the end, request suggestions for speakers for the next meeting Presentations on activities at some of the NC centers More involvement by medical directors of the programs around the state

Usefulness of the Business Meeting Suggestions for Improvement: Have an agenda and make it available before the meeting Follow the agenda Make sure all officers can be present All attendees should attend the business meeting Send business meeting minutes to the NCMGA afterwards Change the rules so that those attending the meeting can vote and make decisions

Proposals 1) Change the order of the hosting sites so that the fall meeting each year is in a central location. –Fall 2007 UNCCH (central) –Spring 2008 ECU –Fall 2008 Wake Forest University (central) –Spring 2009 Fullerton –Fall 2009 Duke (central) –Spring 2010 Carolinas Medical Center Vote to change bylaws

Proposals 2) Create guidelines for meeting planners using suggestions from this survey. Call for volunteers for Meeting Working Group (3-4 people)

Proposals Guidelines should include: –Amount designated for speakers –Instructions on how to organize and facilitate a meeting –Decide whether or not continuing education should be involved –Format of subcommittee meetings –Format of business meetings

Subcommittees –Chair should decide for each meeting whether there is any business or projects. Proposals 3) Use accumulated funds to hire a Web developer to create and perhaps maintain the NCMGA website –Working group to find Web developer and hosting site, and decide web content and design Vote to budget $1,000 for this fiscal year to develop the NCMGA web site Call for volunteers for Web site Working Group (3-4 people)
