2. To give you practical experience of planning, designing and carrying out an ethical piece of research. To develop your understanding of research methodology, including statistical analysis. To develop your skills of working effectively in a group. To develop your presentation skills.

3. You will be planning, designing and carrying out your research project in groups. You will also have to do a group presentation of your research project to the rest of the class. Each group member is expected to make an equal contribution. Each of you will be randomly allocated to groups in order for you to get the opportunity to work with different people. Although this is a group task, you will be expected to complete the ‘Research Project’ booklet individually.

4. What do you think makes group work effective? Write a set of expectations for your group to follow whilst doing your project.

5. Your project MUST be ethical, therefore you need to get your teacher to approve your final idea. Think and discuss potential ideas for what you could research. Once you have a few ideas, think about the practicalities and the ethics of potential research ideas. Make a decision on your final idea and aim of your study.
