Together with Jesus, we live the Good News! Mrs. Sherwood

What is the Good News? The good news or “Gospel” is the message of Jesus. The good news is the Resurrection. The good news is the promise and hope of salvation through Jesus.

Let’s think about what God would have us do in certain situations.

Telling the Truth I have not listened in class, practiced my math facts, or tried to find out what I did wrong on my Simple Solutions homework. Now I have blown the quiz and mom and Dad will not be happy with me. When I get home, Mom says, “Did your teacher go over this material with you?” You see the perfect way out of trouble. You need not admit that you did not listen, study, or take any responsibility. You say, “No, and I even tried to ask for help, but she didn’t call on me.” Will it hurt anyone for you to tell that lie? What does God’s word have to say about the truth? I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws. (Psalm 119:30)

All Are Special! "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' (Matthew 25:40)

Peacefulness My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. (James 1:19)

God is Our Judge "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:37-38)

Listen for God’s voice " 'When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,' says the LORD Almighty. (Zechariah 7:12-14)

Work is Good! “Six days you shall labor and do all your work.”(Exodus 20:9) What is the work of a student?

How will you “live” the Good News? Write a paragraph about how you will follow Jesus this year in school. Include a plan for quiet prayer time, doing homework, listening to your teachers. How will you treat your classmates? Will you speak the truth even when it is difficult?
