2 What’s New in System Platform 2014 R2 – Part 2
GCS Connect EMEA 2015 DAY 1 – CHANGE DATE FOR DAY 3 April 13, 2015 Eric Enet Sr. Manager, Wonderware Technical Training Strategy

3 Brand & Industries or Technology:
WW TRN2 What’s New in System Platform 2014 R2 – Part 2 Eric Enet Brand & Industries or Technology: Wonderware All disciplines Focus of presentation: This session provides explanations and demonstrations of the main new features in System Platform 2014 and R2. In Part 2 we will cover the Protected Objects, Element Styles, Symbol Wizards, and an overview of the new Modern Applications for tag- based InTouch applications. What you’ll take away: What are Protected Objects. Understanding Element Styles. How to create Symbol Wizards. What is an InTouch Modern application. Focus of presentation: what you’ll talk about Brand & Vertical: Wonderware & Industries or technology What you’ll take away: 3 or 4 main points audience should remember

4 Agenda Protected Objects Element Styles Symbol Wizards
InTouch Modern Applications

5 Requirements and Expectations
Proficient in Application Server Proficient in InTouch and ArchestrA Graphics

6 Protected Objects Enforcing standards and protecting your IP

7 Protected Objects Prevents editing or renaming templates and symbols, enforcing standards. What gets also protected: Ancestor objects. Graphics directly or indirectly embedded. Protected objects cannot be “unprotected”. System Integrators and other system designers can use this functionality to protect objects designed in a master galaxy that are intended for use in production galaxies or galaxies on run-time nodes. It does not applies to object instances. To protect existing objects, an overwrite import is needed. Standard export of protected objects retain protected status. The Template Toolbox

8 Element Styles Defining a visualization standard for your graphics

9 Element Styles Allows consistent use of colors, fonts, and other graphical aspects of your symbols. Contributes to standardization, good HMI design and Situational Awareness interfaces. Additional Element Styles can be found in the Application Server installation folder: All symbol in the Situational Awareness Library use Element Styles. Configuration is similar to Quality and Status. Element Styles can cannot be deleted, new ones cannot be added. With Patch 01, User Defined element styles can be renamed. Element Styles can be exported/imported. The Galaxy Style Library dialog box C:\Program Files (x86)\ArchestrA\Framework\Bin\AdditionalElementStyles

10 Symbol Wizards Creating a library of complex and rich graphics

11 Symbol Wizards Allows the creation of ArchestrA Symbols with options to configure and select the appearance and behavior of the symbol. Design mode display the selected graphical components. Only the components associated with the selected options are deployed. For graphical components, previous implementation required the use of Custom Properties and Visibility animations; at design mode all components were visible, required the creation of multiple copies of the graphics to keep things “clean”. An example of Symbol Wizards and Wizard Options

12 Creating Symbol Wizards
Wizard Options Layers Types: Option True / False Choice Group e.g. Position (Top/Bottom) e.g. Type (Pump/Blower/Rotary) Wizard Options become Rules. Rules enable other Wizard Options and layers. Types: Graphic Elements Named Scripts Custom Properties By default, a Layer is created per Rule. Items not assigned to layers are always available. Wizards Options are configuration-only; they cannot be changed nor accessed on runtime. By default, a Layer is created per Rule; these can be deleted / edited. Custom layers can be created. Only selected layers and unassigned items are deployed.

13 InTouch Modern Applications
The next step of tag-based InTouch applications

14 InTouch Modern Applications
Allows the use of ArchestrA Graphics without the complexity of working with a Galaxy. Some key features: ArchestrA Graphic Toolbox Convert legacy graphics to ArchestrA Symbol Export/Import through .aaPKG files Application Styles Library (Galaxy Style Library) Option to create Legacy Applications available; which creates traditional applications without access to ArchestrA Graphics. Things lost with Modern Applications: Deployment; needs to use NAD instead. Ability to share a single library of ArchestrA Graphics through multiple InTouch applications. Audit trail for symbols. An InTouch Modern application open in WindowMaker
