1 Works Cited Assessment

2 Objective Students will be able to… 1. Correctly format a Works Cited page 2. Correctly format Works Cited entries for online sources, images, and books.

3 Task # 1 COPY the following Works Cited entry format on your notes… Basic Format for Books: Lastname, Firstname. Title of Book. City of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication. Medium of Publication.

4 Task # 2 COPY the following Works Cited entry format on your notes:
Basic Format for An Image (Including a Painting, Sculpture, or Photograph) Provide the artist's name, the work of art italicized, the date of creation, the institution and city where the work is housed. Follow this initial entry with the name of the Website in italics, the medium of publication, and the date of access. Goya, Francisco. The Family of Charles IV Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid. Museo National del Prado. Web. 22 May 2006. Note: This format varies widely. See Propaganda example!

5 Task #3 Format a Works Cited page using the checklist: margins, title, font, etc.

6 Task #4 Add the following entry to your page… “Winning Hearts Over Minds: Analyzing World War II Propaganda Posters.” The National World War II Museum, New Orleans, Web. 20 March Hint: Don’t forget the hanging indent!!!

7 Task #5 Create a Works Cited entry for the following book and add it to your Works Cited page: Title: Night Author: Elie Wiesel City of publication: Austin Publisher: Holt, Rinehart, Winston Year of publication: 1988

8 Task # 6 Create a Works Cited entry for the following image (propaganda poster) and add it to your Works Cited page: Artist’s name: F. Stauber Title of artwork: “Long Live Germany” Date of composition/ publication: 1932 Medium (if available): N/A Commissioned/ published by: Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda and National Enlightenment (Nazi Germany)

9 Task # 7 Finally, alphabetize your entries on your Works Cited and do a final edit using the checklist.
