Revelatory act - No mention of the Last Supper. Does the Foot Washing teach us something that could be subtly missed in the sacrament of Communion? Does it provide us with the attitude of Communion rather than a formal ritual?
Intentional act – It was not done upon arrival as one might expect. This was not just an act of common courtesy.
Christological act - It demonstrates a new depiction of Divinity. Trinitarian?

John 13 - Washing Feet as a Lesson in Divine Love
Two interpretations of Foot Washing, both Christological in orientation:
Salvation event – a cleansing , which disciples will only understand after His death (13:7)
Washed all 12 disciples feet (including Peter and Judas). “Love for enemy”
Model for Community Behavior – He commanded them to “wash one another’s feet.” What was not beneath His dignity was certainly not below theirs.
