2 Trust highlights We see and treat over 500,000 patients a year The Trust is one of only 23 trusts in the country to use the Da Vinci robot -one of the most advanced surgical systems in the world that has modernised the way the hospital carries out minimally invasive surgery particularly in the area of prostate cancer Our Acute Stroke Unit, is the first unit in London to be accredited with the ‘C’ and ‘D’ standards –the highest level of standards set by the London Cardiac and Stroke Networks. This follows the unit’s successful accreditation for the ‘A’ and ‘B’ level standards gain in 2011 We are well respected for our Cardiology,, urology, general surgery, and haematology services The Trust has one of the busiest Maternity units in London, we deliver almost 7,000 babies a year Over the last four years we have consistently met our performance targets for quality of services and financial management A standardised mortality rate of 89 (against expectation of 100). Mortality rates at the Trust have now been successfully kept down for two years in a row. Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital NHS Trust (BCF) provides high quality emergency and planned services from two sites in Barnet and north Enfield to over 750,000 residents in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, East Harrow, South Hertfordshire, South Essex and Waltham Forest.

5 Estate changes to Barnet Barnet Hospital Relocation of Genito Urinary Medicine to allow conversion of template for ward use Works to A&E to include sufficient resus. and paediatric facilities; Expansion of Intensive and High Dependency Services Increase in single room accommodation Additional CT scanner Expansion to paediatric in- and out-patient areas Remodelling of Women’s outpatients Expanded and remodelled maternity and neonatal facilities

8 Workforce  Workforce changes: Strategy implementation will require some staff to relocate from the Chase Farm Hospital site to Barnet Hospital and North Middlesex Hospital sites. The Trust aims to retain affected staff by redeploying into suitable vacancies where possible. Workforce plans are being developed to determine exact numbers and staff affected.  Financial implications: The strategy has around £30m of workforce reductions post BEH in 2013/14. We currently have over 500 vacancies and 12% turnover.  Change management: The Trust will adopt robust change management principles in accordance with the Trust’s Policy, legislation and best practice including: –Timely and meaningful communication and consultation –Regular meetings with union representatives –Mechanisms to support staff through the change
