2 Social Studies is the integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence. To simplify… social studies is the study of numerous subject areas in the social sciences (the study of humans and their relationships) and humanities (studies of human cultures) that allow for students to be better citizens of the world.

4 Geography- – is a field of science in social studies dedicated to the study of the lands (where things are), the features (mountains, rivers, deserts), the inhabitants, and the phenomena of the Earth. (How these all were made)

5 History- – Study of past events often with a focus on the human species

6 Law- – This is study of a system of rules that a country or community has made which governs the people who live there.

7 Economics- – The area of social sciences that studies where the focus is on the production, consumption and transfer of materials and money. Often focuses on business, the economy, jobs, and money, and resources

8 Political science- – is a social science area of study that deals with systems of government and the analysis of political activity and political behavior.

9 Demography- – Is the study of populations often focusing on investigating three main demographic processes: birth, migration, and aging (including death).

10 Sociology- – is the academic study of social behaviour, including its origins, development, organization, and institutions. – It tries to understand and envelop a body of knowledge about social order, social disorder and social change.

11 Anthropology- – study of humans, past and present, that draws and builds upon knowledge of physical character, environmental and social relations, and culture

12 Archaeology- – Archaeology is the study of the past through what is left behind. These artifacts that are left behind can be material goods or even buildings. Archaeologists use this to understand the people of the past.

13 Languages- – The study of languages, their origins, meaning and context.

14 Psychology- – Is the study of mental functions and behaviors. – This can be located through the sciences or through the social sciences.

15 Comparative Religion- – is the branch of the study of religions concerned with the systematic comparison of the doctrines and practices of the world's religions.

16 Civics- – is the study of theory and the practical aspects of citizenship, its rights and duties; – the duties of citizens to each other as members of a political body and to the government. – It is the study of what it means to be a “good” citizen

17 Environmental Studies- – is the study of human interaction with the environment in the interests of solving complex problems. – It is a broad field of study that includes also the natural environment, built environment, and the sets of relationships between them.
