3 Objective Participants will apply the theory of multimedia learning to design a 5-7 slide mini-lecture video presentation for use in an LMS environment.

4 Cognitivism  Cognitive Learning Theory is an approach to the study of learning that focuses on the thought processes that underlie learning.  It is sometimes called brain-based learning.  Some major contributors were Jean Piaget, Leslie Hart, David P. Ausubel, Jerome Bruner and Robert Gagné.

Mayer Based on 3 Assumptions: Dual-Channel – for visual/pictorial and auditory/verbal processing Limited Capacity – each channel has a limited capacity for processing Active Processing – organizes selected information into coherent mental representations, integrated with prior knowledge. 1 2 3
