3 The 1950’s  In the 190’s after the WWII veterans came home they moved to the suburbs. The suburbs gave people the chance to live “the American Dream.” However people had to drive farther from the suburbs to work witch was in the city so they needed more highways. They also started to make fancy cars like the mustang and many others. After the veterans came home they were ready to start their families. This was called the baby boom over 30 million babies were born. The 1950’s was the time of rock ‘n’ roll, start were born like Elvis Presley, Little Richard and more. The film star Marilyn Monroe was also another star. There were also popular T.V. shows that were made in the 1950’s like Mickey Mouse Club, Father Knows Best, and I Love Lucy. The two Presidents of the 1950’s were President Truman and Eisenhower. There were many new inventions in the 1950’s like super glue, Mc. Donald’s, credit cards, Slinkys, and hula-hoops, and Mr. Potato head. Mr. Potato head was the first toy to be advertised on network television, and in its first year of production (1952) made over $4 million.
