Note1 – To minimize costs, the Chicago OC-48 uses the protect circuit for the Los Angeles OC-48.

Initially, access to the network was allowed on a project-by-project basis by the APAN Resource Allocation Committee. As bandwidth prices dropped and TransPAC bandwidth increased, access was allowed on an institution-by-institution basis, still using the APAN Resource Allocation Committee.
