2 Key challenges for recruiting members for the OCIX To convince the local key internet players the importance of the Internet Exchange Point (IXP), as being an incumbent telecom operator and that we dont have any hidden agenda other than a commitment to reduce the digital divide gap between the Caribbean and the rest of the world Continue to bring awareness and let them understand that St Maarten ecosystem is completely dependent of the internet and that this dependency can hurt the economy in case the international links providing internet are lost for whatever reason. Some people fail to realize that the Internet Exchange Points will bring this independency Most of the local key internet players on St. Maarten still dont understand the value added benefits of Internet Exchange and that we help us all connected on the IXP enhanced our routing more efficiency, becoming more fault-tolerance and the reduced latency The importance of creating local content specifically tailored to the local market
