Priority of Services for Veterans and Eligible Spouses Desk Aid NO Provide program access earlier than other applicants according to local priority of service policy Document in SKIES or local tracking system NO Yes Support customer in access to desired standard services At initial point of entry, provide customer with the WS office Menu of Services and ask: Are you a veteran or eligible spouse? Veterans/spouses are notified of Priority of Service and asked if they want to claim veteran’s status? If two customers sign up at the same time, the Veteran is given priority. If the Veteran signs up later than another applicant, s/he cannot bump the applicant that is already enrolled. Priority of Service vs Preferential Service Given all thing being equal for all customers, Priority of Service does not secure bumping rights, but will provide services earlier than other applicants waiting for the same assistance. If two customers sign up at the same time, the Veteran is given priority. If the Veteran signs up later than another applicant, s/he cannot bump the applicant that is already enrolled.
