1 1 8/24/2002 Why Upgrade to DS3.0? Xerox and the DocuShare Business Unit continue to invest in DocuShare. We want our customers to continue to invest in DocuShare as well and move forward with us. Document routing and workflow This module will allow our customers to save time and effort performing multi-step processes that require document review or approval by creating powerful workflows. End users can develop routing workflows without programming skills or administrator intervention. Routing slips can be saved, reused, modified and shared for routine applications like expense reports, purchase reqs and status reports, maximizing your usage of employee time and resources. Direct Scan from Xerox Document Centres This new feature will allow our customers to control their paper overload with the ease and simplicity they’ve come to expect from DocuShare. Now any user can effortlessly capture and share hardcopy documents without installing middleware or client software. Exiting customers with Xerox Document Centre that are not network- connected, or scan-enabled, aren’t taking full advantage of the features and capabilities our multi-functional device can provide. By scan-enabling the DC, they can use DS3.0’s direct scan feature to quickly and easily capture, index and web-publish paper documents. DocuShare 3.0 makes scanning as easy as printing. Centreware and FlowPort can provide additional capabilities.

(con’t) Significantly enhanced Web UI A direct result of customer feedback, we have added usability features into DocuShare that will improve throughput when performing routine tasks, improve access and security, and enable user communities to be even more efficient and productive.  Easier to manage root collections Edit Properties on the homepage) Reader Permissions now apply to root  Batch-processing – Select multiple objects then perform a function from browser (e.g., delete, edit location, change owner, rename)  Fixed-width for better performance displaying collections with hundreds (thousands) of objects  Breadcrumb trail within Collections  Tab-based Properties page makes object management and navigation easier  Filtering for Edit Location and Edit Permissions (Add to Access List) Enhanced desktop integration Work in the environment you feel comfortable in, even if your IT department doesn’t allow new client software on your PC, by mapping to a DocuShare web folder from Operating Systems such as Windows 2000, Windows XP; and Unix and Mac workstations running OS X Directly access and manage DocuShare content using File/Open or File/Save As from hundreds of WebDAV-compliant applications such as Acrobat Acrobat and Photoshop, Corel Office, Lotus SmartSuite Use the included DocuShare Windows Client for even tighter integration with Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP and NT platforms.

(con’t) Enterprise Infrastructure connectors (LDAP) Leverage your corporate investment in infrastructure components and expertise, and contain costs as you expand your DocuShare usage. DocuShare 3.0’s Enterprise Directory Services Connector now supports iPlanet’s Directory Services and Microsoft’s Active Directory Services Enterprise Database Connector (Oracle and SQLServer) Maximize your investment in enterprise databases such as Oracle or SQL server while significantly enhancing upload and query performance in very large DocuShare installations  DocuShare 3.0’s data base connector will allow your corporation to build on it’s database expertise and resources for optimal DocuShare performance and availability. The Oracle and SQL connectors also provide the ability to run multiple instances of DS on Windows platform - critical for multi-server customers or ASPs. Significantly improved access control and content administration Minimize your legal exposure and maximize your use of non-IT resources with DocuShare's new Unify container options, and "Guest-free" groups Better Administration and Security DocuShare 3.0 offers 3 unique levels of Administrative support (Site, Content, Account) so your content remains secure and your cost of administration low.

(con’t) Unique custom metadata sets Administrators can now enable different categories of users, such as the purchasing department and the Human Resources department to track their documents in different ways. Purchasing can add and search for “invoices”, while HR can track personnel records. Each different class of document can have different metadata associated with it. Enhanced handling of Outlook mail notes DocuShare 3.0 now handles compound objects. The most obvious benefit of this improvement is DocuShare’s handling of Outlook mail notes, which are now treated as a single object which is fully searchable. Improved Windows Explorer Client & Unified Check-in Wizard Let’s customers set custom metadata by right mouse selecting an object. Mouse over a document title to view contents without downloading the file. Highly-scalable platform Insure your company’s investment in content. DS3.0’s Java code base and revised architecture is significantly more scalable, integrated, fault- tolerant and configurable, and will grow as your needs grow.
