For many years, there was a statistic quoted which really had no scientific study to support it…  That men thought about sex every 7 seconds.  It has been completely debunked.  However, a recent Ohio State University study did show that, on average, the U.S. male thinks about sex about every 51 minutes…  He also thought about food and sleep in just about the same ratios and proportions.  What does this statistic mean?  In part, it means that, generally, men think about sex roughly twice as often as women (about once every two hours);  And it demonstrates the wisdom of God’s Word… Matt. 5:28 1Thess.4:3- 8

There is no doubt that we men have our work cut out for us in these regards.  But, as God said originally, “It is not good for the man to be alone…” Gen.1:18a  And it’s not good that he not be alone in this pursuit of sanctification and right conduct either- women need to help (careful, don’t get ahead of me on this- I’m talking about controlling the thoughts!).  Let’s read the Word together…

Avoiding the Harlot Proverbs 7:1-27 Is a three-fold proposition: 1.Understanding & keeping the teachings of wisdom, vv.1-4; 2.Understanding the end-result of her ways, vv.22-27; 6:26- 32; and 3.Recognizing her so she can be avoided, vv.6-21; 6:24-25.

The task would be much easier if: She looked like the iconic “harlots” of those old movies; Or she wore a scarlet “H” on her lapel; Or she had a sign on her house and vehicle.

But it’s just not that simple anymore.  “Harlots” used to have a distinguishing look about them by which they could evidently be identified, cf. Gen.38:14-15; Josh.2:1; Prov.6 & 7.  Now, I don’t know how a harlot would distinguish herself from most of the rest of the female population.  Allow me to illustrate… Tissot’s “The Harlot of Jericho and the Two Spies”

Now ladies, with what kind of hair, nails, and makeup “look” would one leave after a session at “The Harlot Salon”? Tell me again what style is “in”? Prov.7:10 “The Harlot Salon featured in InStyle Magazine: see the October Style Secrets issue!”

“She is boisterous and rebellious…” 7:11a instead of as 1Pet.3:1-4. “Her feet do not remain at home; she is now in the streets, now in the squares, and lurks by every corner.” Prov.7:11b-13 And she’s probably wearing something like this on those feet that do not remain at home, and go into typically ‘male’ places (like the square ), and lurk ( is that the walk required to wear this kind of shoe?) by every corner! “Asos Harlot Stiletto Leather Sandals”

And she’s probably wearing something like this around her neck to attract attention. Ladies, please understand something: I don’t care what “Clinton and Stacy” ( style gurus on TLC) say, A plunging neckline and a big sparkly necklace do not draw men’s focus and attention “up to the face”! You can’t reveal cleavage, and put something “shiny” in it, and expect us to look at your face. And let’s be honest, you know that already, Prov.6:25; 1Tim.2:9,10b; 1Pet.3:3. Holy Harlot Isis Necklace

“For the lips of an adulteress drip honey…So she seizes him and kisses him, and with brazen face…with her many persuasions she entices him; with her flattering lips she seduces him…” Prov.5:3; 7:13,21 I don’t believe these passages, or 1Tim.2:9ff, or 1Pet.3:3ff prohibit godly women from wearing “makeup.” But there is a difference between “ orderly” and “decorous” (definitions of the Greek term kosmios- “with proper clothing” in 1Tim.2:9) and “dressed (or made up ) as a harlot”! Crème Lipstick Red “Harlot”

“Do not desire her beauty in your heart, now let her catch you with her eyelids.” Prov.6:25 I’m not real sure what the labels meant on this picture- I think they refer to eye shadow and lipstick as “Harlot.” Note 2Kings 9:30 and Jer.4:30 in this regard. Again, does this prevent all “make- up” for the eyes? No, but it does argue for modesty and discretion to prevent making up the eyes “as a harlot.” Mainly Harlot Eye Shadow Harlot Drunk on Berry Wine

Ladies, you don’t have to wear “Harlot” across your chest to be mistaken for one. And “yes,” we men have to also work on controlling our thoughts, desires, and eyes! But, please understand that we are visually- stimulated creatures. Why do you think pornography has existed and prospered for thousands of years? So please help us: When we see cleavage- it doesn’t make us notice your face. When we see thighs- we think higher. When we see “hooker heels”- we don’t think “cute,” we think “sexy.” When we see bare shoulders and midriffs, we want to see more, and look for more. If you attract us with your “beauty,” don’t expect us to “see” your “hidden person of the heart.” “Harlot” fitted (of course) T-Shirt by Zazzle
