2 TV411.org is a website-based learning platform that provides adult learners with multiple opportunities to improve their basic education. The focus of the website is on improving adult literacy. WHAT IS TV411?

Provides adult learners with multiple opportunities to improve their basic education Delivers entertaining multimedia videos and web lessons that help people develop their reading, writing, math, science and financial skills. Available in English and Spanish Extremely beneficial for largest U.S. populations No college credits earned Allows individuals to advance their education at their own pace

8 1990’s: Adult Literacy Media Alliance (ALMA) wanted to help adults with below average level skills in reading and math ALMA decided to use broadcast television to deliver educational media 1998: ALMA created TV411 and it was broadcasted on public television  Emmy Award-winning program still plays on many TV stations  Original TV411learning materials still used by thousands of adult education programs nationwide

9 HISTORICAL CONTEXT 2002: ALMA created TV411.org  Extension of the television series  One of the first websites designed specifically for low-literate adults 2010: ALMA began development of the current TV411 website  Funded by the National Science Foundation  Incorporated: Video and social media features Content distribution to online partners Evaluation of how our visitors find, use, and learn from the site
