YESS is an innovative model of integrating community services into JTHS. In 2004, JTHS received a Safe Schools/Healthy Students federal grant to develop in-school supports services in the following 6 categories: 1. After-School Opportunities 2. Drug & Alcohol Abuse 3. Emotional Support 4. Juvenile Justice 5. Teen Pregnancy/Early Childhood 6. Violence
11
The YESS Model Goal – To empower students to succeed in school & life The Strategy – Provide all students with direct access to the community support services they need to overcome the barriers to academic success by bringing those exemplary services into the schools The Execution – YESS community partners have offices on both JTHS campuses
12
Why We Should Support YESS 1. We can change lives 2. We can build a stronger workforce 3. We cant afford not to care! $209,000. The amount the government loses annually in revenue and spends on social programs for every 20-year-old high school dropout in the country
