Project Methodology  Omnibus Survey  The universe of reference: all households, nationally representative.  The sample was designed based on the following criteria: Stratification on geographical region and urbanisation level; The households have been selected following the random-route procedure; Face-to-face interviews in the household with the person aged 15 years and older who will first celebrate his/her birthday in the future.  Sample size October 2005 - 1277 persons  The interviews were carried out between October 24 rd - October 31, 2005.  Maximum error of the total sample:  2.74%, for a confidence level of 95%.

Key Objectives The main objectives of the survey were:  To measure the child rights awareness  To identify the people reactions towards different Child Rights violations, focusing on: - The right to be raised by the parents - The right to have an education and not to be forced to premature work - The right to express their opinion and to be listened  Awareness of the existence of a new law protecting the child rights  Awareness of the Toll free line as a tool where people can get information and guidance on child rights issues (and expectations regarding the information that should be provided).

5. Page 4 13 September 2015 3. Key Findings  Child rights violation is considered an important social issue, 69% of respondents declaring that this a very important social aspect. Other social issues considered important are: poverty, family violence, corruption and unemployment.  58% of respondents have heard of the existence of a new law regarding the protection and the promotion of child rights. The percentage is higher for the 30-44 (63%) and 45-59 (65%) age groups.  15% of respondents declared having heard/ met situations of child rights violation. Respondents referred mainly to violence, damage, abuse, or exploitation through work.  Right to education has the highest awareness among child rights (74%). Right to life and the right to be protected against any form of violence, injury or abuse come second regarding their awareness (57% and 54%). Generally, child rights have a higher awareness among respondents in urban area and also among respondents having a medium or high education.  Main sources of information regarding child rights are Television (86%), Press (51%) and Radio (46%).  25% of respondents have heard of the existence of the free toll line. The percentage is significant lower for respondents over 60 years old (17%) and also for those having a primary education (18%).  The majority of people (65%) do not know what information they would like to find out when calling the free toll line, or declared there is nothing they would like to know.

Key Findings (continued)  The main attitude/ reaction when confronted with a child right violation is trying to talk to the persons involved in that specific situation and solving it, rather than informing the competent authorities. The authorities mentioned more often by respondents are: Children protection, Townhall, Police, School.  When presented different child rights violation, differences were noticed regarding age and education. Thus: - 15-29 years old age group respondents are more likely not to get involved when confronted with a child right violation, as they consider they cannot change the situation. - 45-59 years old age group respondents are more likely to try and solve the problem by talking to the persons involved (e.g. mother, parents etc.). This tactic is also likely to be adopted by respondents with a high education.
