2. 1.School Improvement Plan development is a collaborative process. 2.Jefferson Staff began examining the School Improvement Process during Continuous Improvement Meetings, becoming familiar with the distinction of goals, objectives, strategies and activities as outlined in the school improvement plan. 3.The Jefferson School Improvement Team examined the District School Imp. Plan to determine improvement areas directly impacting K7 instruction. 4.The School Improvement Team assessed progress on the current plan, examined data obtained in the 2011-2012 school year and recommended updates to the current plan and recommendations for next year. 5.The School Improvement Team incorporated input from parents via the PTO and parent presence at SIT meetings.

3. 1.English Arts: (a) DIBELS data demonstrates that K-5 grade levels increased the percentage of students reading at benchmark, and decreased the percentage of students reading well below benchmark, both positive trends. (b) DIBELS data demonstrates that student “retell” is a needed area of improvement as students advance in grades. This would correlate to other data demonstrating student recall of details in writing is a need. (c.) Analysis of ELA data was a key strategy in our current year SIP and a common practice in RTI planning meetings. 2.Math: Fall 2011 MEAP data would demonstrate that fractions are a needed area of improvement in multiple grade levels. 3.Social Studies: A survey of Jefferson staff (SPR-90 and SIT planning) identified curriculum alignment as the key area of improvement for Social Studies. 2011-12 learning target discussions reflect this need. 4.Science: Fall 2011 MEAP data would indicate that areas of need can frequently be associated with science vocabulary familiarity.

5. 1.Title 1 Instructional Assistants have been an integral component of the RtI (Response to Intervention) implementation process. Title 1 Assistants have been used in combination with grade level teachers, special education and ESL to provide an average of 10 stratified learning groups targeting the unique learning needs of K-5 students in reading. Title 1 Assistants have been trained in LLI (Leveled Literacy Instruction), provided with instructional materials and incorporated into every RtI planning session. 2.Jefferson School has incorporated the use of on-line resources and iPad apps to supplement the intervention opportunities available to students in reading and math. To that end, Title 1 funds have been requested to increase the number of iPads and computer laptops available for student use.

6. 1.ELA: Increased identification of appropriate intervention strategies and measurement of success, specifically focused on vocabulary, word recognition, recall of text with relevant details, and comparison of literature elements across varied text. 2.Math: Increased analysis of Math data from DELTA math and other sources. Encouragement of spiral review to increase mastery of key concepts such as fractions, area and perimeter. 3.Social Studies: On-going establishment of revised learning targets and alignment of social studies curriculum. 4.Science: Established use of assessments and project-based learning strategies.

7. The Vision and Mission of the school are introductory components of the school improvement plan, and integral to the cohesive bond across the school to a common set of beliefs. The Jefferson School Improvement Team has taken steps toward revision of the vision and mission to more closely align with our Positive Behavior expectations which are highly familiar to our students (ROCKS traits.) For example: Students and staff will show RESPECT for the cultural differences of others. Students and staff will OWN the daily opportunity they have to learn and grow. Students and staff will demonstrate they CARE about the future. Students and staff will demonstrate KINDNESS. Students and staff will contribute to a learning environment where it is SAFE to take risks.
