1 SuperFRS Multiplett and Dipole Vacuum Interfaces Multiplett: Insulation vacuum: Insulation Vacuum Pumping flanges: Two CF flanges of the size DN160 must be located under 35° below the horizontal main plane at the cylindrical shell opposite to each. The vacuum has to be pumped before cool down starts. It is not necessary to pump the vacuum insulation of the cryostat during operation. Therefore a valve will be installed in front of the pump to be connected. Insulation Vacuum Pressure Gauge flanges: Due to only one of the insulation vacuum pumping flanges will be in use for pumping, the vacuum meter flanges shall be implemented by a dedicated adaptation flange of the type DN160CF. For redundancy purposes, the adaptation flange must show two connections of the size DN40CF.

2 SuperFRS Multiplett and Dipole Vacuum Interfaces Multiplett: Beam pipe vacuum: Beam pipe integral part of cryostat Beam pipe vacuum flanges 1) The material has to be stainless steel 1.4429 or 1.4435. The material for the vacuum flanges has to comply with DIN EN 10088. 2) The material has to be free of pores and inclusions. Before machining the materials has to be electron slag refined (ESR / ESU). 3) The beam pipe has to be equipped with two fixed flanges of the type DN400-CF at each end. The bolt hole pitch circle of the flanges must be oriented in a way that half the distance in between two bolt holes is exactly at 12 o’clock. 4) For the installation of flange connecting bolts the minimum clearance between the beam pipe flange and the cryostat vacuum vessel must be at least 100 mm.

5 Dipoles: Insulation Vacuum: Insulation Vacuum Pumping flanges: There must be two DN 160 CF flanges on the cryostat for vacuum pumps for the cryostat vacuum insulation. The flanges must be on opposite sites to ensure that at least one flange is easily accessible. Beam Vacuum: The beam pipe is not part of the cryostat. SuperFRS Multiplett and Dipole Vacuum Interfaces
