What Is Ergonomics? Ergonomics is the study of equipment design and use in the workplace and the environment, in order to make people more comfortable and efficient in their work and living environment.
Purpose of Ergonomics The purpose of ergonomics is to prevent common injuries such as: Back pain Eyestrain Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Shoulder pain Neck pain
Ergonomically Designed Devices The Computer workstation Computer Mouse Keyboard Chair Adjustable monitor
Ergonomically Designed Devices Recreation Ergonomics is also applied to equipment used for leisurely activities such as the television remote control and video game remote controls.
Other Ergonomically Designed Devices Ergonomics is also used for: Writing materials Household supplies, such as, kitchen tool and cleaning equipment Work attire
Ergonomics and WU Ergonomically speaking, there are a few things that could be improved here on campus Better ergonomically designed chairs in residence hall rooms Bigger desks Appropriate seating arrangements and lab classrooms
Conclusion The study of ergonomics has broadened its focus to what we understand it to be today. Everyday new designs and equipment are introduced to increase comfort and efficiency in the parts of our lives where we spend the a majority of our time.
