The Ear !!. The ear’s intricate and delicate structure makes it vulnerable to damage The ear’s intricate and delicate structure makes it vulnerable to damage

UHHHH -- OHHHH…. There are two types of hearing loss: Conduction hearing loss, and Sensorineural hearing loss (nerve deafness) There are two types of hearing loss: Conduction hearing loss, and Sensorineural hearing loss (nerve deafness)

Conduction Hearing Loss …occurs when there is damage to the mechanical systems that conducts the waves to the cochlea.. This image demonstrates conduction hearing loss.

Sensorineural Hearing Loss …occurs when there is damage to the cochlea’s receptor cells or to the auditory nerves.. …occurs when there is damage to the cochlea’s receptor cells or to the auditory nerves.. This image shows severe hearing loss from 20 dB Hl to about 75 dB Hl in both ears.

…but that’s ok Once damaged or destroyed, a hearing aid can still be used to amplify enough sound to stimulate neighboring hair cells; scientists believe that someday they can be able to trick the human cochlea into regenerating hair cells – thereby restore hearing as well. 7 Cochlear Implants..a bionic ear used to restore hearing for people with nerve deafness; it’s a device for converting sounds into electrical signals and stimulating the auditory nerve through electrodes threaded into the cochlea…..a bionic ear used to restore hearing for people with nerve deafness; it’s a device for converting sounds into electrical signals and stimulating the auditory nerve through electrodes threaded into the cochlea…

Studies have shown.. Cochlear implants help children become proficient in oral communication and help children become less distractive and impulsive Cochlear implants help children become proficient in oral communication and help children become less distractive and impulsive

THE GOOD STUFF !.

Sign Language Sign is a language with its own grammar, syntax, and sematics; Some schools and families help deaf children become bilingual in sign and in the culture’s spoken and written language Sign is a language with its own grammar, syntax, and sematics; Some schools and families help deaf children become bilingual in sign and in the culture’s spoken and written language

Some research.. Among people who experience hearing loss, the National Center for Health Statistics estimate that ONLY 1 % were born deaf.. Among people who experience hearing loss, the National Center for Health Statistics estimate that ONLY 1 % were born deaf..

Sensory Compensation People who lose one channel of sensation (such as vision, auditory, etc.) do seem to compensate with a slight enhancement of their other sensory abilities

Other important senses In most humans, the major senses are seeing and hearing; we depend on them particularly for communications In most humans, the major senses are seeing and hearing; we depend on them particularly for communications

CAST !. Tiera …………… Kinko DeBarge Brittani…………. Lil Twin ~ Thank You ~ THE END !.
