5. Voyage #1 The Griffin was LaSalle's only ship. LaSalle left port in France on his first voyage in August 1679. He went back to France around 1680. He explored the Mississippi and Ohio River and claimed the entire Mississippi valley for France.

6. Voyage #2 In 1681, LaSalle left France in boats. On his second, and final, voyage he explored the Mississippi River.
