3 Background The Cooperative Society was originally founded in 1844 in Toad Lane Rochdale by a group of 28 pioneers. It has now grown to become the largest consumer co-operative in the UK, with 6.5 million customers. Cooperative Financial Services (CFS) form part of the umbrella organisation, The Cooperative Group. CFS was formed in 2002, bringing the Co-operative Bank, Co-operative Insurance Services and Smile internet bank under common leadership. By constantly interacting with our customer base and shaping our business around them, Cooperative Financial Services has become one of the most highly regarded financial institutions in the world. The Cooperative Group has continually expanded and has diversified into varying sectors and markets. In 2009 proposals announced to merge with the Britannia Building Society. On the 29 th April the Britannia Membership approved the recommendation and the merger formally took place on 1 st August 2009. This created a business with £70 billion of assets, 9m customers, 12,000 employees, 300 branches and 20 corporate centres.

9 Marketing Channels To launch this proposition, Quotes4Charity will partner with Charities with a combined minimum supporter base of 500K+, collectively selling 2500+ products. To achieve this aim a minimum marketing requirement would be required from each charity, to include; –Proposition promoted online via the charity homepage linking to Quotes4Charity.co.uk for product features and application option. –4 e-mail campaigns per annum to e-supporter base –Inclusion of proposition within charity newsletter/ e-newletter –Inclusion of proposition within standard supporter mailings 4x annually In addition to the above mentioned activity, to maximise fundraising any other communication mechanisms to supporters should be considered. These will differ from charity to charity, and Quotes4Charity will work with each Charity to develop a suitable fundraising plan.
