12 12 James 3 “ …[9] With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; [10] from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. [11] Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? [12] Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? … ”

13 13 James 3 “ … Nor can salt water produce fresh. [13] Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. [15] This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. … ”

14 14 James 3 “ …[16] For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. [17] But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 26 26 Practical tests for our speech Does my speech make me appear worldly or a Christian? –Romans 12:1,2

27 27 Romans 12:1,2 “ Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. ”

28 28 1 John 2:15-17 “ Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. [17] The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever. ”

34 34 1 Corinthians 10:23-33 “ …[27] If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions for conscience' sake. [28] But if anyone says to you, "This is meat sacrificed to idols," do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for conscience' sake; [29] I mean not your own conscience, but the other man's; for why is my freedom judged by another's conscience? … ”

37 37 1 Corinthians 8:7-13 “ …[9] But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. [10] For if someone sees you, who have knowledge, dining in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols? [11] For through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died. … ”
