2 Karankawa Lived along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico Nomad – a person that moves from place to place Caught fish and shellfish for food Traveled in dugout canoes Chiefs led each village Died out from disease and war

3 Jumano Lived in villages called Pueblos Each village had it’s own government They were farmers They irrigated their crops using water from nearby streams

4 Comanche Comanche were nomads Lived in teepees Hunted buffalo and used them for food, hides, clothing, and food Chiefs led war bands Most now live on reservations in Oklahoma

5 Native Americans in West Texas Today There are two reservations –Tigua Part of the Pueblo culture Live in Ysleta, near El Paso Have lived in Texas for about 350 years –Kickapoo Live south of Eagle Pass Came to Texas in 1800’s
