4 4 1st Component: Invesment  Strengthen Legal Framework related to property  Improve Legislation about financial institutions and capital markets  Development of investment funds for rural areas  Labor training  Farmer’s organization  Support Contract Agriculture  Support Agricultural Services: Technology generation, extension and phitosanitary services.

5 5 2 nd Component: Support Rural Sector Competetiveness  Demand Driven Extension and Technical Assistance Programs  Credit Supply for Small and Medium farmers  Support Marketing Services: Information and Business Advisory Services

7 7 Projects: Colombia  Projects in execution: Land Administration, Irrigation development and alternative crops.  Projects in the Pipeline: Plant and Animal Health Services and Coffeee Sector Support. Services will include: laboratory design and constructionand laboratory equipment; consultancy services in Food Safety.

8 8 Projects: Ecuador Projects in Execution:  PROMSA: Agricultural Research, Extension and Plant and Animal Health Services.  PRAT: Land Administration Services: GIS, Titling, Registry, Rural Development. Project in the Pipeline:  Rural Advisory Services(includes Plant and Animal Health) (US$20 millions), including rural bussinesses promotion and contract agriculture; laboratory equipment and Food Safety consultancies services.

9 9 Projects: Perú Projects in Execution:  Plant and Animal Health Development for US$76 millions (1999) to conclude in 2004.  Land Titling Program II, (2001) aprobado en 2001 Projects in The Pipeline:  Support Services for Rural Bussinesses: (US$20 millions): Bussiness promotion; institucional strengthening; Marketing support; information services.It will include consultancies to coordinate advisory services and to design information services.  Plant and Animal Health Services II: Focussed in Food Safety.

10 10 Projects: Venezuela Plant And Animal Health Program Services: Laboratory design and equipment; consultancy services in Food safety.

12 12 Projects: Bahamas In Execution  Study on the assessment of competitiveness in agriculture. The objective of the study will be to assess the current and potential competitiveness of the main agricultural subsectors, identifying constraints, possibilities and support required to improve the competitiveness of the sector. The study could be the basis for future interventions in the sector. Future  Land Management and Administration. The objective of the operation will be to evaluate the tenure problems, assess land administration effectiveness of key agencies, identify policy and legislation needed, if possible draft it. This operation will be the basis for exploring the need to formulate a program on land administration and management.

13 13 Projects: Guyana BANK ACTIONS Execution  Agricultural Sector Loan. Policy program focuses on the development of the framework on environment, rice, drainage and irrigation and land. Concluded in October 2001. In Preparation  Agricultural Support Services Program (US$15 million). The program includes rehabilitation of irrigation areas, land regularization, institutional strengthening of Drainage and irrigation and Land Offices, users participation in water management, and strengthening support services.

14 14 Projects: Jamaica BANK ACTIONS In Execution  Agricultural Support Services Program (US$22 million). The program intends the strengthening of the basic support services supplied by the Government and private suppliers. It includes technology, plant and animal health and a productive project fund.  Land Administration and Management Project (US$12 million) to improve land allocation and management in selected areas In Preparation  National Irrigation Development Plan (US$15 million). The program includes an investment component that will include actual construction or rehabilitation of a selected number of small and medium-size projects where the policy and legal/institutional measures would be tested.

15 15 Projects: Trinidad and Tobago In Execution  Agricultural Sector Reform Program TC (882/OC-TT). The remaining resources of the TC (US$4.5 millions) were proposed to be allocated in land administration, agribusiness development, and restructuration of the sugarcane corporation. Future  Land Adjudication Program (US$20 millions). The purpose will include the regularization of tenure and issuance of agricultural leases.

16 16 Projects: Suriname Executed Agricultural Trade Program Loan Sector (11481/OC-SU). Disbursed.  Preparation of a Land Management Program (TC-0201078-SU). The technical cooperation has been approved in May 2002, to help in the design of a project to implement institutional and policy changes required supporting modern and transparent land management. In Preparation  Preparation of an Action Plan for the Privatization of Agro-industries. The main objective of the Technical Cooperation Project is to support the government efforts to prepare an Action Plan for the Privatization of four parastatal agro-industries and to define the best strategy to transfer these entities to the private sector.
