3 Objective NWS 1: Increase the proportion of adults who are at a healthy weight  Data Source: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey  Baseline: 30.8 percent of persons age 20 years and over are at a healthy weight (baseline years 2005-2008). 3

4 Objective NWS 2: Reduce the proportion of adults who are obese  Data Source: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey  Baseline: 34.0 percent of persons age 20 years and over are obese (baseline years 2005-2008) 4

5 Objective NWS 5: Reduce the proportion of children and adolescents who are considered obese a. Children aged 2 to 5 years b. Children aged 6 to 11 years c. Adolescents aged 12 to 19 years d. Children and adolescents aged 2 to 19 years  Data Source: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey  Baseline: (baseline years 2005-2008) a.10.7 percent of children aged 2 to 5 years are considered obese b. 17.4 percent of children aged 6 to 11 years are considered obese c. 17.9 percent of adolescents aged 12 to 19 years are considered obese d. 16.2 percent of children and adolescents aged 2 to 19 years are considered obese 5

6 New Objectivie: Increase the proportion of primary care physicians who regularly measure the body mass index of their patients  Sub-objective a: Increase the proportion of primary care physicians who regularly assess body mass index in their adult patients  Sub-objective b: Increase the proportion of primary care physicians who regularly assess body mass index for age and gender in their child or adolescent patients. 6
