Chapter 10 Geometric Figures By Jilliyn and Destiney :D

WELL, THIS DINOSAUR RIGHT HERE WILL HELP YOU! Need help?

Vocabulary Time!!

Polygons A shape with at least three straight sides, three edges, and no openings.

Rhombus A parallelogram with four congruent sides.

Quadrilateral A flat shape with four sides and no openings.

Trapezoid A quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel lines.

Parallelogram A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides.

Octagon A polygon with eight sides.

Chapter 10.1 (angles) There are 3 basic types of angles. They are acute, right, and obtuse angles. Acute: Any angle that measures less than 90 degrees. Right: Any angle with a measure of 90 degrees. Obtuse: Any angle with a measure of 91 degrees or more.

Supplemental/Complimentary Angles Some angles add up to either 90 or 180 degrees; these have special names. Supplementary: Any angles added together that add up to 180 degrees in total. Complementary: Any angles added together that add up to 90 degrees in total.

10.3 (triangles) There are three types of triangles. Equilateral: A triangle with all equal side lengths. Isosceles: A triangle with two equal side lengths. Scalene: A triangle with no equal sides.

10.5 (Similar and Congruent Polygons) Similar Polygons: Polygons that are the same shape but different sizes. Congruent Polygons: Polygons that are the same size and the same shape.

10.6 (Using Proportions with Similar Polygons) You know that the lengths of corresponding sides of similar polygons are proportional. So when two polygons are similar, you can use proportions to find unknown lengths.

Well there you go(:
