 Perimeter: The sum of the side lengths of a polygon  Area: The number of square units enclosed by a polygon  What is a square unit?

 Perimeter= 4s (s=side length)  Area=s 2

 Perimeter= 2L+2W  Area=L(W)

 Circumference= 2  r, r=radius ◦ Or D , D=diameter, why?  Area=πr 2

 Postulate 1-9: ◦ If 2 figures are congruent, then their areas are equal  Postulate 1-10: ◦ The area of a region is the sum of the areas of its nonoverlapping parts.

A carpeting specialist has to lay carpet in the room below. How many square ft. of carpet will he need? Ft.
