2 2011 VCC STUDENT CENSUS SURVEY 2 GOALS 1.To describe the characteristics and backgrounds of VCC students in order to provide a profile of our current student population. 2.Obtain students’ input on the quality of their schooling experience and on improvements needed. 3.Enable VCC students to take a leadership role in providing schooling environment solutions so that VCC can provide the best quality services to current and future students. METHODS Online questionnaires available to 11,652 eligible VCC students. Fall data collection took place from Nov. – Dec. 2011. Spring data collection took place from April – May 2011. 2942 respondents completed the online questionnaires. 25% was the response rate.

3 This report is based on 2,942 respondents enrolled in a course or program at Vancouver Community College in 2011. Responses collected from the Fall and Spring survey cycles have been combined and only findings from common questioning have been reported. 2011 VCC STUDENT CENSUS SURVEY 3

What was your MAIN reason for taking this program or course at VCC?

14 2011 VCC STUDENT CENSUS SURVEY 14 VCC survey respondents were asked what their plans were for WORK after they have completed their current program. 46.9% plan to look for a job. 25.9% will continue to work at the same job they had before the program. 16.0% will work at the job they were able to obtain while enrolled in the program. 7.5% don’t know what their future work plans will be yet. 3.2% do not plan to work. A majority, about 63.7%, do plan to go to SCHOOL after they have completed their current program.
