7.  Research has demonstrated that enforcement of policies limiting service to underage persons and intoxicated patrons reduces alcohol-related problems and improves public safety and reduces crime.

8.  The NLLEA is committed to the professional development of its members. To assist its members in achieving their enforcement and regulatory objectives, the NLLEA sponsors a national training academy each year.  Each year the staff of instructors, selected from within the membership, strives to improve the Training Academy by updating existing instruction and adding new classes that reflect the changing needs of the membership.  Since the first session in 1996, the academy has grown to encompass four separate and distinct phases each held during the same week.

9.  Phase I: Basic Class; includes courses related to Underage Drinking Issues, Fraudulent IDs, Investigations on Licensed Premises, and Handling Informants.  Phase II: Advanced Class; includes more advanced courses such as Financial and Hidden Ownership Investigations and Critical Incident Stress Management.  Phase III: Special Investigations Class; consists of specialty courses such as Regulating Video Gambling, Preventing Underage Drinking using the Internet, and TRACE.  Phase IV: Leadership Class; specifically targeted towards recently promoted first line supervisors.  Click here for more Training Academy information Click here for more Training Academy information

10.  The NLLEA’s 26 th Annual Conference will be held in Leesburg, Virginia from August 7-9, 2012.
