11 Primary Areas of Research Conducted by the Six Networks ACTG Optimizing clinical management of HIV/AIDS, including co-infections and other HIV-related conditions, and conducting translational research for new drug development HPTN Evaluating non-vaccine HIV prevention strategies HVTN Evaluating preventive HIV vaccines IMPAACT (Focus on children, adolescents and pregnant women) Preventing mother-to-child transmission, optimizing clinical management of HIV, including co-infections and other HIV- related conditions Optimizing clinical management of HIV/AIDS, including co-infections and other HIV-related conditions; antiretroviral therapies (ART), immunomodulatory therapies, and interventions to prevent and treat complications of HIV and ART; emphasis on prolonging disease-free survival in a demographically, geographically, and socio- economically diverse population of individuals with HIV.
