8 Employee Recruitment Application: In person at Max's Online: www.maxsrestaurants.com/careers Assessments: Candidates must complete 3 short assessments either online or in person

9 Employee Selection and Orientation New Employee Training o Involves history of the company, look and feel of Max's, the values, mission statement, etc. Evaluate the training process Complete a Training Guide o (Used for reference during initial training, continuous training, etc.) o Perform a follow-up to the initial training to ensure training goals were met Verify or Complete o OSHA, Sexual Harassment, Safety, EEO, Food Handling process' certifications

10 Training and Development Steps for New Employees o Know the history of company & mission statement o Evaluate & complete training guide o Understand workplace diversity and safety o Know menu and how to sell the best items (no alcohol for under 21) o Have new employees shadow experienced employees o Put new employees through a test-run o Host pre-shift meetings to ensure everyone is comfortable o Maintain upbeat and encouraging language Implement a reward program for selective selling o Incentivize selling techniques

13 Direct Financial Compensation Managers salaries ranges $28,000 to $35,000 based on experience Hourly supervisors ranges $11-$14 hourly based on market and experience Hourly dishwashers reasonably above minimum Order takers. Tips or no tips? Above minimum

14 Indirect Financial Compensation Health care After 2 years hourly employees become eligible for Full Medical Flexible spending account for health care Paid vacation and PTO 2 Weeks paid vacation per year Can carry over to next year if they don’t use it Can only use 2 weeks maximum at a time 10 Days of PTO Free meal per shift Retirement plan After 2 years with Max's we will match 401K $.50 on $1 up to the maximum 6% of gross pay

15 Labor Union In order to head off unionization of our workforce we will:  Have competitive pay and compensation for health insurance benefits (Max's will pay majority of the premium costs)  Provide fair and consistent policies and practices that address common employee concerns (targeting reasons employees would unionize)  Ensure a friendly and safe working environment where no safety hazards are present and worker’s compensation is available upon injury on the job site  Encourage open door management policies for employees to instill trust and gain recognition  Be open to employee referrals. We want to maintain a fun and positive environment where employees can actively get there friends and colleagues in to the workplace  Hosting employee events to show gratitude for their hard work, while building team appreciation and boosting morale  Hosting community events to allow family, friends, neighbors, and patrons to join in a community celebration that recognizes the business they bring to our restaurant  A non-discriminatory work environment where diversity is celebrated, employees have access to management, and a fair and effective grievance process is instilled

16 Conclusion Max’s restaurant is about creating a quality environment for our employees to provide a quality service to our customers in our community. By taking a holistic approach to how we interact with our community, from attracting new hires to how we train employees to serve and give back, we feel that Max’s is not just a restaurant establishment, but a steward within that community.
