Artificial Neural Networks Uwe Lämmel 1981 –Diplommathematiker (Masters in Mathematics), Rostock Univ. 1985 –PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in Computer Science, Rostock Univ. 1985-1995 –research assistant, Dep. of Comp. Sc., Univ. Rostock since 1996 – Professor Informatics/Artificial Intelligence, Business School, Hochschule Wismar 2006 –guest lecturer at Univ. Autónoma de la Laguna, Torreón, México.
Artificial Neural Networks Artificial Intelligence in Business Data Mining Engineering –technology –project in co-operation with HypoVereinsbank Application of artificial neural networks –data mining –prognosis Knowledge Management –Business Rules –Knowledge Networks (using Topic Maps)
Artificial Neural Networks Two types of knowledge processing Logic Conclusion sequential Aware of Symbol processing, Rule processing precise Engineering traditional" AI Perception, Recognition parallel Not aware of Neural Networks fuzzy Cognitive oriented Connectionism
Artificial Neural Networks Idea A human being learns by example learning by doing –seeing(Perception), Walking, Speaking,… Can a machine do the same? A human being uses his brain. A brain consists of millions of single cells. A cell is connected with ten thousands of other cell. Is it possible to simulate a similar structure on a computer?
Artificial Neural Networks Neural Networks Idea Artificial Neuron & Network Supervised Learning – Feed-Forward Networks – Examples – Bank Customer – Customer Relationship Unsupervised Learning – Self-Organizing Map (SOM) – Examples – Bank Customer – Travelling Salesman Data Mining – other Techniques
