6 After high school, SEO Scholars gain entrance to competitive colleges and succeed  85% of SEO’s College Classes of 2010 and 2011 graduated college on-time compared to the national average of 57% for all students who complete their degree in 6 years 2  For summer 2011, 122 college students secured summer internships and/or full- time positions 6 Source: 1. Rankings are determined by Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges, which rates schools according to Barron’s reliable competitiveness scale. Rankings range from to “Most Competitive” to “Noncompetitive.” 2. U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics. (2011).  100% of SEO Scholars were admitted to a four-year college for SEO’s Class of 2011  91% of Scholars were accepted to a college ranked Most, Highly or Very Competitive by Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges, including Cornell, Dartmouth, MIT, NYU, Smith, and Wesleyan 1  SEO Scholars earned over $1.6 million in scholarships for their first year of college Admission to CollegePerformance in College 6

7 Purpose: To evaluate the educational impact of the SEO Scholars Program 7 Highlights from Policy Studies Associates, Inc. The Comparison Groups: SEO Scholars were compared to a group of students in the same high schools who were matched on 8 th grade demographic and academic characteristics. Students of each comparison group matched the ethnicity, gender, and baseline academic test scores of the SEO Scholars. 7

Private vs. Public CollegesIn State vs. Out of State SEO Scholars were more likely to matriculate to out of state colleges than the comparison group.
