2 Parents’ Association All parents of children attending the school are automatically members of the association. Association has a Constitution Association has Objectives Association affairs are conducted by a Parents Council

3 Parents’ Association Objectives To promote and foster cooperation between parents, teachers and school management To promote the educational and general welfare of students in the school To act in an advisory and consultative capability in relation to the school and it’s policies To encourage parents participation in the promotion and development of extra-curiclar activities in the school To organise and promote talks, seminars and open days for students and parents To keep Parents advised as to their rights in relation to representation at the Board of Management To advise the Parents Representatives on the Board of management of the view and opinions of the parents and to offer such other advice as the associate sees fit To promote the aims and objectives of the school. In the context of Gaelcholaisti, this shall mean the promption of the Irish language To represent the views and opinions of parents on the National Parents’ Council (Co. Wicklow branch) To establish a Parents Council Parents are the prime educators of their children. It is they who have the primary responsibility of ensuring the moral, spiritual, intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of the child.

4 Parents’ Council Structure At first meeting, the council shall elect a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and PRO. The term of office of the Council is 3 years. Election to the council shall be by way of nomination and ballot by members. Election process shall be overseen by the Principal and Chairperson of the Council. A Council member must resign on ceasing to be a parent in the school.
