2. Mary Ward Italian nun Angela Merici began the Company of Saint Ursula and ordered that women take their time to teach girls. Then Mary Ward of England began a network of schools for young women throughout Europe. Some of the people involved were Angela Merici who created the Company of Saint Ursula, Teresa of Avila one of the most well-known spiritual leaders who became a nun at 21, and Mary Ward who opened schools for girls all across Europe. They all contributed to leading and teaching girls and young women. This shows disunity in Europe because it was seen as not important to teach women, women were also spiritually unguided so this step towards helping them created almost a crack in the life back then causing issues between government and people. 3. The visitation of Holy Mary order Francis of Sales and Jane of Chantel were two of the people who helped find the visitation of Holy Mary order. The visitation of Holy Mary order was a practice to teach women to become teachers for young women. A network of schools for girls was spread all over Europe by Mary Ward of England. At first the church didn’t like it because it was so new, but later on the church recognized it and then it became more popular. 4. Company of St. Ursula What happened: It was an order of woman dedicated to teaching girls, the Company of St. Ursula created a new and different future for women other than the usual marriage or monastic life. It helped women stay in a closer relationship with God while still living at home and working at their jobs. Who was involved: In 1535 Angela Merici an Italian nun started the Company of Ursula and she got many other women involved who promised to dedicate their lives to God and live by a guidebook that was made by Angela. How does this event show religious disunity in Europe: At first the church was concerned about this order, they weren’t sure how it was going to turn out, but when they saw all the influence these women had on people they accepted it.
