Paths to completing the MA-IDT Option 1: Coursework only 10 courses, including MID 801 & MID 841(core) and MMM 800 (Critical Inquiry; taken during your final term in the programme) Option 2: Coursework + Dissertation 8 courses, including MID 801 & MID 841(core) and MID 809 Dissertation Strong advice: Choose the dissertation route only if: You are strongly motivated to pursue a PhD and/or You are already in the middle of a suitable project at your work which a dissertation will complement. You cannot decide your path until after you’ve completed 4 courses. You have 4 years to complete your degree. menu previous next

General Information Generally, each class runs one evening per week for 13 weeks. (Classes for January 2010 begin the week of 11 January.) Some online sessions; each course lecturer will have more specific details. There are no exams, but you will have many projects and assignments. All course materials (except copyrighted materials) will be uploaded to our course LMS (learning management system). We will primarily use Blackboard. Login information will be given in the first session of MID 801 on 12 January. menu previous next

Planning your yearly schedule First term, complete the core: MID 801:Instructional Design Models and Practices MID 841:Evaluation Models and Methods After that you can choose from any electives offered. Listed in MA-IDT General Information website; scheduling is tentative.MA-IDT General Information website Strong advice: Do NOT take more than two modules per term. Inter-semestral Courses: These are courses offered during the June-July period. Varying timetables (sometimes two evenings per week, sometimes full-day sessions, some with e-learning. Expectations Please be on time for class (or inform your instructor if you will be late or absent). If you are absent, you are still expected to download and read all online materials for that week. Read the readings and do your homework. Don’t get behind on assignments. Check your email and course portal regularly. We expect basic technology competencies: MS Office, Internet and Communication skills, and a willingness to try out various new technologies as they appear. Eat dinner before coming to class. Available at the NIE Bookstore (basement, Library Block 4). Price: about $50. Read chapters 1, 2, & 3 before the first class on 12 January.
