Growing Deeper Reaching Higher You’ve got the time!

Romans 10:17 ‘Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.’ John 8:31-32 ‘To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

The New Testament starts with the life and works of Jesus. Matthew – Disciple and a tax collector 17:24, the two drachma tax. 17:27 a four drachma coin. 18:24 ten thousand talents. 18:28 a hundred denarii.

Starts with genealogy and quotes Old Testament scriptures. Approximately 50 references to Old Testament Scriptures. About 75 allusions to Old Testament events. Written with the Jews in mind. He wanted to show that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah.

Matthew 5:1-12 Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them, saying: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Attitude Blessed means ‘happy or fortunate.’ ‘Poor in spirit’ are those who consciously depend on God not on themselves, they are poor inwardly having no abilities in themselves to please God. ‘Those who mourn’ recognise their needs and present themselves to the one who is able to assist.

‘Meek’ are those who are truly humble and gentle and have a proper appreciation of their position. ‘Hunger and thirst for righteousness’ are those who have a spiritual appetite and a continued desire for personal righteousness. ‘The merciful’ extend mercy to others, thus demonstrating God’s mercy which has been extended to them.

‘Pure in heart’ are those who are inwardly clean through faith in God’s provision and a continual acknowledging their sinful condition. ‘The peacemakers’ show others how to have inward peace with God and how to be instruments in the world. They desire and possess God’s righteousness even though it brings them criticism, hardship and persecution.

Our attitude will determine our altitude!’ ‘Attitude is the mind’s paintbrush it can colour any situation.’ ‘It is not the outlook but the uplook that counts.’ ‘It isn’t hard to make a mountain out of a molehill. Just add a little dirt.’ ‘You can often change things if you change your attitude.’
