2 DOES JESUS CARE?

3 Mark 4:35-36 “And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.” Does Jesus Care?

4 Mark 4:37-38 “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?” Does Jesus Care?

5 Mark 4:39-41 “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” Does Jesus Care?

6 In the New Testament the word “Care” can have several meanings. Song: “Does Jesus Care? Oh, Yes, He does! Lets look at some thoughts about caring (Good & Bad) Notice in the sense of anxious, worry or worldly care. Does Jesus Care?

7 I.Does He care about earthly things? Luke 12:23 “And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.” Don’t worry about these things! Does Jesus Care?

8 I.Does He care about earthly things? God’s providential goodness should keep us from worrying. This is where that trusting faith comes in. Enough trust to know that He will provide! Does Jesus Care?

9 I.Does He care about earthly things? Matthew 6:26 “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?” Does Jesus Care?

10 I.Does He care about earthly things? Matthew 6:28 “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Does Jesus Care?

11 I.Does He care about earthly things? Matthew 6:30 “Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” Do what we can, but don’t worry! Does Jesus Care?

12 II. God’s promises should keep us from worrying. Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation (conduct –NKJV) be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Does Jesus Care?

For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” Does Jesus Care?

17 III. Trust in God should free us from worry. I Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Psalm 55:22 “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Does Jesus Care?

18 IV. Cares can be an obstruction to the gospel. Matthew 13:22 “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.” Too involved in other things! Does Jesus Care?

19 IV. Cares can be an obstruction to the gospel. Luke 14:18 (Excuses) “And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.” Another a yoke of oxen, married Does Jesus Care?

20 IV. Cares can be an obstruction to the gospel. Philippians 4:6 (NJKV) “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” Does Jesus Care?

21 IV. Cares can be an obstruction to the gospel. I Corinthians 7:32 “But I want you to be without care…” (Anxiety) This was something Martha needed to learn. Does Jesus Care?

22 IV. Cares can be an obstruction to the gospel. Luke 10:41 “And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.” More concerned about food than the words of Christ. Does Jesus Care?

23 V. In the sense of concern, there is an earnest Care. Luke 10:34 “And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.” Does Jesus Care?

24 V. In the sense of concern, there is an earnest Care. Luke 10:35 “And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.” Does Jesus Care?

25 V. In the sense of concern, there is an earnest Care. Deuteronomy 11:12 “A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.” Does Jesus Care?

26 V. In the sense of concern, there is an earnest Care. Philippians 4:10 “But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care…” Does Jesus Care?

27 V. In the sense of concern, there is an earnest Care. Psalm 142:4 “Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul.” Does Jesus Care?

28 V. In the sense of concern, there is an earnest Care. Titus 3:8 “This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.” Does Jesus Care?

29 Does Jesus care (worry, or anxious about the future)? NO! Does Jesus care (show genuine love and concern)? YES!

30 In what way do we care about: God? Christ? Our soul? God’s word? Eternal life? Does Jesus Care?

31 If heaven is one’s goal, they must: 1.Hear – Rom. 10:17 2.Believe – Heb. 11:6 3.Repent – Luke 13:3 4.Confess Christ – Acts 8:36-37 5.Be Baptized – Acts 2:38 6.Remain faithful – Rev. 2:10 Does Jesus Care?
