Metrics That Lead to Reproduction

Purposes of Metrics  Metrics enhance accountability  Metrics help us to keep focused  We usually achieve what we measure  We communicate what is important by what we measure  Metrics allow us to evaluate progress and make course corrections  Metrics assist in decision-making related to resourcing and strategy  Metrics enhance prayer mobilization

Filter Questions  Is it theologically sound? Obedient to the Word/Scripturally Sound Fulfills the Great Commission Obeys the Great Commandment  Is it missiologically sound? Does it take the Gospel to the masses? Is evangelism and church planting done through discipleship? Can the work move to others from the beginning point of the work? Is work founded on natural leaders?

Filter Questions  Does it follow church growth mandates? Focus on multiplying new units. ○ Disciples ○ Bible Studies ○ Churches ○ Cities ○ Nations Establish the lowest possible threshold of barriers to conversion based upon New Testament polity and examples. Train leaders who train others in every area of Church life.

Filter Questions  Does it have focus? Nation, City, Unreached People Group or Population Segment Are there measurable accountability factors? It should measure what men do, and celebrate what God does? ○ Men evangelize/God saves ○ Men gather Believers/God establishes church ○ Men pray/God performs miracles

Measure the Right Things  Measure what we do, and celebrate what God does  Measure what brings success – success is defined by reproduction and sustainability in the local context  Measure the indicators that lead to CPM  Measure the focus, not the fringe  Measure what is intentional, and report what is serendipitous

Measure What Brings Success  Is there a prayer strategy? How many people over what period of time? How will communication be maintained? What are the reporting mechanisms?  Is there a Scripture strategy? How will Scripture be used? How will it be deployed? If not in existence, what will be done? What formats will be distributed/used? How many units distributed/used?

Measure What Brings Success  Is there an ministry/access strategy? How will outsiders meet insiders? How will felt needs be determined? How will you define success in access? How will potential leaders be found?  How will you find those who have been prepared by God to receive the Gospel (Persons of Peace)? How will you identify yourself as a spiritual person? How many people will you meet daily?

Measure What Brings Success  How will you move from working with one person to working with his/her family or affinity group?  What is your plan for making disciples?  How do you move from being a discipleship group to being a church?  How will you identify leaders?  How will you train leaders?  How will you train “ministry to others” inside and outside the groups?

Measure What Brings Success  How will you make your Church Planting process self-sustaining? Disciples reproducing Disciples Leaders reproducing Leaders Groups reproducing Groups Churches reproducing Churches Groups of Churches reproducing Groups of Churches  Is there a focus on Groups instead of Individuals?
