Differences in curriculum 課程的分別
Primary School 小學 Junior Secondary 初中 Chinese Language 中國語文科 Chinese Language 中文語文科: 文言篇章較多,閱讀理解要求同學運用自己的文字表達。 English Language 英國語文科 English Language 英國語文科: 詞彙較多,不同文法學習模式,口語表達流暢,正確運用句子結構及文法。 Mathematics 數學科 Mathematics 數學科: 理解及解答應用題,運用數學語言,自學習慣。 General Studies 常識科 Integrated Science 綜合科學科: 詞彙較多,探究式學習,準確運用文字回答問題。 Life & Society 生活與社會科: 詞彙較多,對時事的認識,分析資料,發表意見。 History Studies 歷史研習科: 分析資料,批判性思考,發表意見。 Geography 地埋科: 詞彙較多,準確運用文字回答問題。。

Challenges to students in EMI school:
to understand teachers’ instructions to learn a lot of vocabulary to understand textbook contents What parents can help: There will be more vocabulary development exercises and dictation. Check your son’s performance. When your son is studying, ask if he has any difficulty in understanding the textbook contents. Provide help if necessary.

Challenges to students in learning:
more subjects and lessons some academic subjects only have 2 to 3 lessons per week What students can do: bring a notebook and take note during lesson time bring highlighter and highlight important textbook contents during lesson time > these help students to find out important subject contents when they study at home

Challenges to students in homework:
students will be given 2 to 5 days to complete homework no fixed day for dictation or/and test, but depending on teaching progress What students can do: make good use of the student handbook to record homework, dictation and text date(s) What parents can help: check your son’s student handbook at least once a week based on the record, discussion with your son how to manage his time to do homework, and to prepare for dictation and test

Students are required to plan AHEAD and have a regular timetable:

Homework Policy Non-submission of homework
(1) Sticker will be put on the student handbook to inform parent. (2) Attend homework class after school on the same day (4:15 pm to 5:15 pm). First five pieces of homework non-submission: > warning Another five pieces of homework non-submission: > ONE minor demerit!

Pack school bag 執拾書包: Overweight school bags will bring additional stress and fatigue to students. EDB recommendation: less than 15% of body weight. Advises: Pack school bag every day Listen to teacher’s instructions for what books to bring for the next lesson Use school bag, pencil case and other stationery items which are durable but light-weight Not to bring magazines, toys and unnecessary items to school
