9 Providence Comes from the Latin providentia Closely related to the word “provide” which come from the latin providere – Pro = before – Videre = to see – To see before The word “provide” therefore exresses forethought, which rests upon foresight, conveying the idea of providential care. The word “providence” occurs only once in our English New Testaments, and applies to a man, not to God (Acts 24:2).
