7. Answer People who would hold government positions were normally sons of important people. After Confucius any male could hold a position based on MERIT. They would be rewarded for doing a good job. To get a job as a civil servant first you would need to pass an exam and to advance you would need to pass more exams and these exams were based on Confucius teachings
